When he arrived at the school in March, he was one of the first in the country to go.
He has been called a hero and an ambassador for the school, but he says it is his fault the school’s financial woes have been so deep and that he did not know the extent of the problem.
“I think that the school did the right thing in saying ‘this is something we’ve got to fix’,” he said.
“They should have had a bigger budget to make it happen and they’ve done that.”
In the last year, the school has paid out $40 million to settle with the state and federal government.
The school says it will take at least another $20 million to repay the state, but Mr Henshaw says the total is likely to be much higher.
“This is going to have a major impact on the community,” he said of the state’s response to the crisis.
The state also has paid back about $2 million to the parents of the students it has let go.
“It’s not a good sign,” said Mr Heng, a former teacher.
“When I came to the school a year ago, I was told, ‘this will never happen again’. “

Mr Hennelly says he is considering putting the school on the federal school voucher program, but his plan is not ready yet.
The federal government is also providing $1 million to help pay for the costs of a school-related crisis, but it has not announced any plans yet.
“A lot of people are looking at the financial situation and saying, ‘what the hell can I do about it?'”
Mr Hennie says he wants to make sure the school does not get the same fate as other public schools that have been left to make do on their own.
“People have told me they don’t want to go back to school and are thinking about taking their children out of the school system,” he says.
