Business transaction fee: New Orleans Saints to pay $3,000 per season
The New Orleans Saint’s franchise announced Tuesday it will pay $1,000 to cover the costs of the NFL’s “Super Bowl 50” festivities, according to a report in the Times-Picayune.
The Saints’ average annual revenue for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020, was $922 million, and they will have the most revenue of any NFL franchise, the paper said.
The team had to pay about $3 million to the NFL to have the Super Bowl in New Orleans, according, which means they’ll pay more than any other team in the league.
The team will be able to spend up to $3.8 million of that on luxury items, the newspaper said.
The NFL’s $2 billion “Superfest” in New York City this past January cost $2.7 million, but the Saints only spent $2 million on the festivities, which included the coronavirus pandemic, according.
The Super Bowl was originally played in Atlanta, which was home to the New Orleans team.
