NLL transactions: Where to find your news
New York Rangers guard Kevin Garnett and forward Kyle Singler are expected to miss six to eight weeks due to injuries.
New York’s Kevin Garnet, center, is a potential candidate for a trade.
(Getty Images) While Garnett, Singler and forward Klay Thompson are all out for the year, the other six players on the roster are not.
Rangers general manager Glen Sather is also trying to find a way to keep three-time All-Star Kevin Garnets $100 million contract.
Sather has had to use his salary cap space to keep Thompson, but he’s also looking at a lot of free agent deals.
It appears that the New York Islanders are the biggest suitor for Garnett.
According to ESPN, the Islanders could be the biggest market in the league for Garnets contract, and if they make him a one-year deal, they would save $1 million per season.
In addition, the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are also mentioned as possible landing spots for Garnet.
There’s no telling what Garnett will bring to New York, but it could be good news for his teammates.
